Today went good in the classroom. I had a nice lesson about quadratics, Quadratics Assignment #4 that went really well until the end. I also had a nice lesson plan which I didn't post up there but it was real specific. I even wrote on the plan what I was supposed to put on the board. I didn't follow it in the first two classes, and of course was completely unphased by the chaos I've grown used to dealing with the past two years. Then, in my last class of the day, in the crazy class, when I reached the point where all the other classes started falling off, I decided to just follow the plan and talk to myself, over all the kid conversations. 1, then 2, then 3 started paying attention, and then it became a fairly productive class.
Key points: Its not a failure if a kid who did nothing all period can't go home with the excuse "well no one was doing anything."
