It isn't everyday that you get offered exactly what you're looking for the first time you start looking. It usually means you don't know what you're looking for, or they know how to sell what they have. We'll find out today when I call up the guy in New York and try to take the job.
I weighed the pros and cons a couple days ago, here is what I came up with...
Pros:
-It would be a unique experience regardless of what happens
-It would give me a chance to help develop curriculum with other teacher, which is what I really want out of a job
-It could be exciting living in New York
-It's only march so I can back out anytime in the next six months and still have a chance of finding a good job
-20 years from now when I tell the story of what I did after college, it would be a lot cooler story if I could say "the job I took was cool," or "the job seemed cool but I had to leave because..." Than to have to say "The job seemed cool, but I didn't do it.
Cons:
-New York might be kind of scary, and it will be hard to meet people when I am working my ass off as a first year teacher in this first year school
-The whole school itself may be kind of questionable because I don't really know anything about it so who knows what it could really be like
-It might be too hard and I won't be able to take it
I thought the pros outweigh the cons, so I am going to take it, after a short spell of haggling for salary of course
