Just when computers are up to the speed where I can whip out 20 burned CD's in 2 hours during my shift at the library, CD's are basically obsolete. As soon as they figure out how to add pictures and a dust jacket to an electronic file (and keep people from pirating it) the whole 'disc' thing is going the way of the casette, for both audio and video. It is a shame too because I have some bomb CD's that are coming out of this burner here at the Gutman Library, (that's right, I'm getting paid for this). At least these CD's will be easier to switch to electronic than casettes were to CD's...since they weren't switchable to CD's. Last year Craig picked me up in one of his coworkers cars who had a hardrive in his dash in lieu of a stereo. Craig could look through his folders and pick songs to play, throw on a playlist, or he could put a CD in and let the stereo rip the songs from it. Pretty soon things like this will have usb drives and you will be able to do all of your music from flash drives. Only a matter of time before my CD books will sit on the shelf of my future house much like my fathers reel to reel collection down in the basement.
This and the fact that I am going to be starting my career in less than six months does not help my stress level.

you can always turn your old cds into rearview mirror decorations like the taxi drivers in peru. glue on a picture of your favorite santo or santa, write algo cursi on the shiny surface in permanent marker, and your stress level will decrease every time you go for a drive.
