EXTRAS: MAKING OF THE POST
This post was a long time in the making and it really goes back to snowmass, colorado. I was explaining the chicken noodle soup and the aunt jackie and I don't think was explaining how it all works. so I started looking for this the original video.
The video came out like 6 months ago, shortly after a 10th grader on the basketball team first started doing the new dance. Within moments the song found its way onto so many kids ipods and into passing car stereos so I had to ask the kids what it was about. so I sat into one of the other teachers hip hop classes where they were talking about all these dances and he said that we needed to watch this movie "the freshest kids" another teacher just happened to have it, so we watched it over the next few classes. The whole movie describes how these battling crews would go dance against each other around the city, which is sort of what created the whole culture of hip hop.
So I was surprised when I looked for aunt jackie now, 6 months later, there were a whole slate of battle videos with other people doing the aunt jackie, but battling the people in the crew that brought the dance into the main stream. Like this one
