He's actually got a couple different kinds of cancerous cells that are trying to get their malignant parties started in different location, but it isn't proper english to say "my dad has cancers." Then it sounds like my dad is real good with people born in late june early july. Ironically, my Dad has a great Cancer in my mom (birthday june 29). Who has been helping him through it and keeping me up to speed. Here is the break down.
Early Fall - Prostate report comes up that is unfavorable, dad takes some one month treatment to see if it is worth doing a biopsy to see if his prostate is cancerous.
November 7th - Dad gets goiter removed from his thyroid because it is restricting his breathing.
November 12thish - Dad finds out goiter had cancerous cells in it He begins an iodine- free diet to dispel his body of iodine and leave him with a very lame thanksgiving.
December 12th- They use radioactive iodine to locate and kill the remaining cancer cells from his thyroid, a process that should take 90 days and makes my dad technically "radioactive" (I can't go over there because I would become sterile apparently). He gets a prostate biopsy too, which he says wasn't very painful, although I don't believe him.
December 13th- Results of the biospy come in, They took 18 samples in the prostate, of those 2 of which had 10% and 15% cancerous cells, which is very good. Results of the first day of radioactive dad also came in: No laser vision, No telepathy, perhaps the radioactivity is giving him a super napping ability, but my mom didn't give much detail here.
I guess I'm really calm about this dad cancer thing. He's retired, and he caught it very early and he has good health care. I still feel like I should go home to visit more during the coming semester to help the family out.
