If you haven't heard, this year me and the older, larger version of me (my older brother Craig) are both graduating this spring, provided we all graduate our classes. So know that you've heard, you are invited to the graduation party that we are having next Friday. The following is the party flyer that my brother came up with.
Confreres, Consorts, Countrymen, and Cousins,
As you all well know, it's that time of year again. A convival
atmosphere of Corona, hotdogs, relief, and "What next?" blankets college conurbations
across the landscape of the United States (except for Ohio). The streets teem
with staggering, sunglasses-clad young adults; the libraries are barren.
The shelves of CVS are prodigiously packed with variegated
money-holding cards, festal paper plates, brilliant balloons, and splashy streamers. Campus restaurant servers are cursing while gearing up for the onslaught of
bumptious out-of-towners and gowned learners.
Graduation.
It comes but once in the overachiever's lifetime. Nay, but for he with
intellectual proclivity--an academician--it comes yet again. So this proffering, this temptation to ceremonialize and, of course, carouse, is extended to you, as part of a select, yet diverse coterie.
Please, come join this "scholarly" colloquium and engage in some good,
old-fashioned libation an tomfoolery on behalf of Craig and Carl Oliver, the
graduates.
Glad rags (formal clothes) are needless. Drinking hats (drinking hats)
are essential.
In sum: Join us at the Oliver home on Saturday, April 23rd, to partake
in some celebratory merry-making. "Graduation Party" gives the necessary
absolution (though, really, there need not be any such justification for a party)
to fill one's belly with barley pop, munchies, and laughter. Bring your able
body, and the bodies of able others (friends, family, foes--provided the foes and
foes alone bring gifts).
The vitals:

OLIVUH: i shan't be back in Bloomfield for another few weeks if I am to return at all.
Hopefully the grad party will be dominating. OF course, it all begs the questions: where now?
I have two weeks of finals. hard to believe we're coming back around to another summer.
